Project 1: Line and Shape
Line and Shape Reflection
Digital Photography
Reflection:
What locations and subject matter did you choose to shoot for your photos?
- I mostly took photos of my electronics and views from windows. I also took a shot of the chunk of wall between my closet and my bedroom door.
- I chose to shoot very close to the subjects, because I wanted to focus on simple lines and shapes.
- Most were straight on, but in a few of the photos I went from an above angle.
- All but one of my photos were vertical, as I took them in portrait mode on my iPhone.
- Not necessarily--I wasn't here for the rule of thirds lesson. But, I feel that some of my images do resemble work set in the rule of thirds.
- My favorites are the bus picture and the window screen picture. I like the perspective and angle of the bus picture, and I like the effect of the rain on the screen.

Describe your best photo:
- My best photo is the shot of the space between the two sheds.
- I stood a bit far away but zoomed in on the gap.
- Straight on
- Horizontal
- Yes; the photo is comprised of three parts: the two sheds and the gap in between them.
- It's a mix of pattern and rhythm: the pattern in the grooves of the sheds create rhythm with the angle in which is was shot.
- The third picture is the closest to being overexposed; the flowers are very bright and it's hard to see some details in the buds.
- The last image is slightly underexposed; most of the picture is dark and there's almost no white.
- The third to last photo is the best example of exposure; the whites are bright and the blacks are dark, and you can see details clearly.
Project 3: Power Lines and Playgrounds
Which photo best demonstrates the rule of thirds to compose the shot? Why?
- The last photo, because the basketball hoop is one third of the way to the right.
- The second photo because it's low to the ground and the angle makes the chains form a diagonal line.
- The fifth photo because there are the actual shapes of the playground set and the shapes in between the set.
- The fourth photo because there are many different aspects of the photo to observe.
- The second photo, again, because I feel drawn to the angle at which it was shot and it follows the rule of thirds
- The seventh photo, because the blacks are dark and the whites are bright, and because the image is not too gray overall.
